Promotion of Industry Careers

The Petroleum HR Council is committed to promoting careers in the oil and gas industry to jobseekers and career influencers across Canada. The skilled labour/supply gap for the petroleum industry is growing, so ongoing promotion of industry careers remains a priority.

 

Projects that address the issue:

Our Career Awareness Program focuses on sharing career information with traditional and under-represented groups across the country via interactive workshops, exhibitions at careers fairs and events, and by distributing promotional information.

The Petroleum HR Council long recognized the need for the petroleum industry to diversify its labour force to meet the growing need for skilled employees. The 2003 study, The Decade Ahead, uncovered troubling information gaps between employers and potential employees that were impeding the industry's ability to attract and retain a diverse pool of talent.
