Labour Market Information has always been the glue holding the Petroleum HR Council projects together. Direct access to current labour supply and demand data, specific to the oil and gas industry, is key to successful long term planning and strategy development.

Projects that Address the Issue:

Petroleum labour market information including industry's future labour demand, labour supply sources and labour supply/demand gaps is a key foundation to addressing workforce issues and developing effective labour supply solutions.

Completed in 2007, the objective of the project is to conduct a study to provide a basis for a workforce development plan for the upstream oil and gas industry within the Province of Saskatchewan. The results are detailed in a full research report entitled Saskatchewan Upstream Oil & Gas Workforce Development Report.

In 2003, the Petroleum HR Council released The Strategic Human Resources Study of the Upstream Petroleum Industry: The Decade Ahead. The publication results from a 12-month national, human resources study of the upstream petroleum industry that analyzed the workforce and assessed the key challenges facing the industry through 2012.
