ITT Model: Community Experiences
The community experiences of employees and their families are
critical to both attraction and retention, particularly in "hard-to-recruit" locations. To be
effective at attracting and keeping people, community programs and
services must reflect the needs and interests of a diverse
workforce.
Positive community experiences demand collaboration. Companies,
community organizations, local governments and educational
institutions can work together to make communities more attractive
through:
Formal structures such as:
- Entertainment and theatres
- Sports leagues
- Community days and special events
- Support services and friendship centres
Informal activities such as:
- Recreation and leisure
- Social gatherings
- Shopping
Everyday living including:
- Housing
- Infrastructure
- Parks and recreation
- Day care and elder care
- Health care and wellness services
- Social services
- Retail development
